Then we test the circuit, open up the devices and connections involved, and trace the problem back to its cause, whether that is a loose connection, a worn device, a bad breaker or a circuit carrying more than it should.
Signs you need an electrician: outlets or switches that are dead, warm or discolored, lights that flicker or dim, a breaker that trips again right after you reset it, buzzing, or a burning smell. If something smells hot, sparks or smokes, switch that circuit off at the breaker and call right away.
